Velvet Creme Doughnuts

Velvet Creme Doughnuts Ad for the opening of their 2nd location – Miami Herald 8-4-77

When Velvet Creme Doughnuts originally opened in 1947 by Jim Hadler it was a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. At some point in the mid-60s they became Velvet Creme Doughnuts.

You could find their doughnuts at every Farm Stores and Winn Dixie in South Florida and by 1977 they had a second location in South Miami near the University of Miami.

In 1989 Jim retired and his son Gary took over the company. Unfortunately as fate would have it, Gary became ill in 2000 and passed away in 2008.

The stores were closed and the Velvet Creme Doughnuts name remained dormant until Gary’s brother in law, Robert Taylor brought it back with a Food Truck in early 2015 with partner Jorge Rios.

Velvet Creme Doughnuts will be opening a storefront in Little Havana before the end of Winter 2017.
